Yellow Point Singers
Yellow Point Singers began in 1997 when parents of graduating students thought that they, too, would like to be singing on a regular basis, as school choirs do. The first evenings of song were in the homes of local participants. Today, Yellow Point Singers is a non-audition community choir with sopranos, tenors, altos and basses. Singers travel into Cedar from Nanaimo, Cassidy, Yellowpoint, Ladysmith, Saltair, Chemainus and Duncan.
Yellow Point Singers performs for community events, and hosts two concerts annually at Christmas and in early May. At times, the group shares concert evenings with other local choirs. The choir owns a growing library of music and also borrows from others. Each spring and fall, they hold a day-long singing workshop with a wonderful pot-luck at the noon-hour break.
Yellow Point Singers meets weekly on Wednesday evenings at Cedar Community Secondary School. A few more tenors and basses would be especially welcome. |
