Chartered in 1973 in Nanaimo, the Tidesmen Barbershop Chapter is a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society, with approximately 30,000 members in North America and affiliates in 12 other countries internationally. The Tidesmen Barbershop Chorus sings a cappella four-part harmony, primarily using music of the 20th Century. They range in age from 14 to “young at heart”!

Celebrating their 35th anniversary this year, The Tidesmen will produce and perform their 10th annual Port Theatre show on November 8 at 2 pm and 8 pm, featuring an International Gold Medal Quartet, The Chorus and Chapter Quartets.

The Tidesmen support the Child Development Centre as a local service project by contributing a percentage of their proceeds from public performances. They have also created a Music Student Award to provide outstanding music students from Nanaimo schools with cash assistance for their future studies. Their motto: “Keep The Whole World Singing”.
